The SUGAR project will focus on residential and passenger transport sectors at the Belgian level. <\/span><\/p>\n

The main objectives are to: <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Evaluate and understand the acceptability of sufficiency policies and measures (including the willingness to pay\/accept).<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Quantify the influence of these measures on the Belgian energy system with the TIMES model.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Analyze their effects on the electricity transmission grid, including ongestion, peak load and adaquacy.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Formulate policy recommendations and design innovative sufficiency-based electricity contracts.<\/span><\/li>\n <\/ul>\n

    The mission is to determine whether and how sufficiency could:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Reduce energy demand,<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Improbe system flexibility and reduce grid stress,<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Reduce investment needs and support a cost-effective transition,<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Bring social and economic benefits,<\/span><\/li>\n
